To apply for and obtain an Electrical Installation Certificate in Spain, follow the steps below: 

  1. Contact an authorised electrical installer. It is essential to hire a certified technician, i.e. one who has the validation of the competent Administration. He or she will be in charge of guaranteeing the quality and safety of the electrical installation. In this regard, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism draws up a list of professionals approved to carry out this work.   2. Inspection and preparation of the certificate. The installer will analyse each aspect of the installation in detail to assess its condition and whether it complies with the regulations established in the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations (REBT). If he concludes that it meets all the necessary requirements, the technician will issue and sign the CIE. 
  3. ICN Register. Once you have obtained the certificate, the electrical installer will register it with the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines of the corresponding autonomous community. From that moment on, the document will be legal and there will be official proof of its issue.
